JAMIL AND NYANGA JAWARD FOUNDATION EXPANDS HUMANITARIAN OUTREACH TO HILL CUT COMMUNITY

On Monday, September 2, 2024, the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation expanded its humanitarian effort to the Hill Cut community. The foundation's staff were warmly received by local stakeholders, including Chief Augustine Kamara, as they introduced various initiatives aimed at empowering widows and less privileged women in the community.

Hawa Bintu Dauda, the Community Development Officer, led the session and explained the importance of the foundation's work with widows in other communities. She highlighted how the same support would benefit Hill Cut, saying, "The foundation has been working tirelessly to uplift widows in communities like yours. We are here to help you build a better future for yourselves and your children by giving you the tools and resources to make that possible."

Madam Rugiatu Tarawally, the Foundation's Programs Coordinator, shared success stories of the foundation's work in other communities. "The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation has changed the lives of over 1,000 women and children through projects like Social Income, the Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) Educational Support programs, and by offering business start-up opportunities to widows," Tarawally noted. "We've also implemented community development projects such as constructing water tanks, providing solar electrification in rural areas, and agricultural initiatives. We are dedicated to helping you and hope Hill Cut will soon share these success stories."

Chief Augustine Kamara, speaking on behalf of the Hill Cut community, expressed his gratitude and optimism for the future. "We are truly blessed to have been chosen by the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation for this great initiative," Kamara said. "This is a wonderful opportunity for our widows, and we are thankful for the foundation's presence. This is God's work, and we are committed to maximizing this opportunity."

The foundation also introduced the VSLA initiative to the widows in Hill Cut. Hawa Bintu Dauda explained how this initiative has empowered women in other communities by providing access to micro-loans and financial services. "The VSLA initiative is about more than just savings—it's about giving you the ability to manage your financial growth. This program has helped women start and grow their businesses, and we are excited to bring it to Hill Cut," Dauda explained.

Helena F.E. Dania, the women's leader in the community, expressed her deep appreciation for the foundation's support. "We are very grateful that the foundation has chosen to support widows and less privileged women in Hill Cut," Dania said. "This is an amazing opportunity, and we will take full advantage. We pray for the foundation's continued success so they can continue their good work in other communities."

The event concluded with prayers for the foundation's success and a strong commitment from the Hill Cut community to engage in the foundation's initiatives actively. Through its expansion into Hill Cut, the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation continues its mission of empowering widows and vulnerable women, helping them overcome challenges and build sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.
