JAMIL AND NYANGA JAWARD FOUNDATION EXPANDS LIFE-CHANGING SOCIAL INCOME PROGRAM TO 19 MORE WIDOWS

The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation is proud to announce a major breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to uplift vulnerable communities. Thanks to its relentless advocacy, the foundation has secured vital financial support for 19 additional widows through its partnership with Social Income. This powerful initiative offers monthly financial aid to widows facing extreme hardship, helping them meet their basic needs, provide for their families, and restore hope during trying times.

In an impactful meeting held at the Foundation's headquarters in Freetown, Mariatu Haja Kanu, Operations Manager for Social Income, shared the exciting news. "We are thrilled to expand our program to include 19 more widows," said Kanu. "The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation has been instrumental in making this possible, and together, we are making sure these women can live with dignity."

The Social Income program delivers essential financial assistance to widows who lack the means to support themselves. Each month, recipients receive income that helps keep their families afloat and opens doors to a brighter future. The success of this program has been nothing short of transformative.

Rugiatu Tarawalie, Programs Coordinator for the foundation, expressed her deep appreciation for the growing partnership with Social Income. "This support is truly life-changing for these women. It not only helps them provide for their families but also empowers them to regain a sense of stability and purpose. We are committed to working alongside Social Income to ensure even more women benefit from this vital program."

During the meeting, current beneficiaries shared heartfelt testimonies about how the program has improved their lives. Agness Lavalie, a widow and participant in the program, described how the support helped her care for her children. "This program has been a blessing," she said. "It gave me the means to take care of my family when I had no other options."

For Aminata Kabbia, another widow, the program meant the chance to return to school. "I had lost hope of ever continuing my education. But now, with this financial help, I can support my family and pursue my studies again."

Hawa Bintu Dauda, Community Development Officer for the foundation, emphasized the profound impact the program has had on the widows. "This initiative is giving women a renewed sense of hope and security. We will continue to support these women every step of the way, ensuring that the benefits of this program reach far and wide."

The addition of these 19 widows into the Social Income program marks a significant milestone in the foundation’s mission to provide sustainable solutions for disadvantaged women across Sierra Leone. Together with Social Income, the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation remains a beacon of hope, dedicated to transforming the lives of widows in desperate need.

This expansion is just the beginning, and with the continued support of partners and donors, we can bring even greater change to more widows and their families. Let’s keep building hope together.
