JAMIL AND NYANGA JAWARD FOUNDATION HOSTS CONSTRUCTIVE FESTIVE FUN FAIR FOR WIDOWS IN FREETOWN

In a commendable effort to bring festive joy to some of society's most vulnerable members, the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation organized a two-day fun fair dedicated to widows in Freetown. Hosted separately for the east-end and west-end communities, this event aimed to empower widows grappling with emotional challenges, financial difficulties, and social stigma during the festive season.

The celebration offered an engaging mix of enjoyable activities, including egg-and-spoon races, dancing, and various sports. This was a valuable opportunity for widows and their families to connect, share joyful moments, and temporarily alleviate their burdens.

Hawa Bintu Dauda, the foundation’s Programs Officer, addressed the attendees, expressing strong support for the widows and reaffirming the foundation’s commitment to their well-being. “Don’t give up hope,” she encouraged. “Keep fighting for the sake of your children. The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation is dedicated to supporting you both emotionally and practically. We are here to stand by you as you navigate your challenges.”

Her encouraging words resonated with many widows who have found empowerment through the foundation’s initiatives. Marion Barns, chair lady of the Crab Town community, highlighted the impactful nature of the foundation’s programs, stating, “This celebration holds great significance for us. The VSLA program has transformed the lives of many community members, teaching us to save, invest, and grow our small businesses, and we are sincerely grateful for this support.”

Agness Waggay chairlady of another community, echoed these sentiments, describing lady vent as a valuable occasion. “We are genuinely fortunate to have the support of the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation,” she remarked as cheers and applause filled the air. “Their initiatives have significantly improved our lives, and this celebration exemplifies the hope and joy they have brought to our community.”

The fun fair was not just a festive occasion but also a celebration of resilience, unity, and hope. By acknowledging the unique challenges faced by widows, the foundation has demonstrated its unwavering dedication to uplifting the less privileged in society.

As the widows participated in games, danced, and laughed together, the atmosphere served as a vital reminder of the importance of compassion and community support during the festive season. This celebration provided joy and reinforced the promise of brighter days for these strong and resilient women and their families.
